Another Hurricane By Esch

I woke up to the sound of sirens blaring and people running around like another Hurricane was about to hit.  I looked around and saw my brothers and Big Henry but no campfire was left. I look to my left and a little girl is sitting next to me and staring at me.  She looks at me, "Momma?" I realize this is my daughter, I am a mom. I soon grab her and carry her as I stare at our once house.  I did not see our house but instead an apartment building with a pool.  I see someone running past us, I run over.  I ask her what has happened and how much damage was caused by the Hurricane.  She looks at me crazy and waves this block in my face. I stare at it and ask her what it is.  She responds," Its a smartphone, have you been living under a house."  I stare at her confused and think about what has happened to the campfire, to the hurricane, to my house. I start putting it together and ask her what year it is.  She tells me it is July 10th, 2018 and runs away.  All of sudden, people in Army suits are running towards me and telling me to get 150 miles away and pushing me towards the car and my brothers have disappeared. In the next moment, we are driving into town; what I thought was destroyed and you could not even walk on the roads, suddenly all is fixed.  Everything is replaced with apartment buildings and shops.  I ask the man what is happening.  He is saying a Hurricane, category four is heading towards us.  It is called Hurricane Florence.  I start to get light headed, thinking to myself, "Not again, I cannot lose anyone else."  I soon feel overwhelmed and look down at my daughter.   I smile and tell her everything is going to be ok.  We stop suddenly and it starts to pour; the Hurricane is starting to hit.  Flash flood warnings are going off everywhere.  The radio in the car is saying it is going to hit the 14th of this week.  The man tells me to take shelter and be safe.  My daughter and I get out of the car and soon the car is carried away in a sudden flood.  My daughter and I run and stay in a house that has been abandoned.  We climb up to the attic.  It soon becomes dark and I am stroking my daughter hair, soothing her to sleep, in a moment of crisis that seems to last for eternity. I soon drift off to sleep thinking this to myself and wondering what has caused me to be here...I fall asleep to the sound of the house creaking to the wind.
