The government is ruining everything by Chris McCandless
On the blog, write a post from the point of view of either Esch or Chris. Imagine that they have been transported to 2018 in a time machine. Remember that Esch is experiencing Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (13 years ago) and Chris is going "into the wild" in 1992 (26 years ago). Choose a specific location or event to transport your character to, and make sure you describe the setting or event in detail from the point of view of the character, showing his/her perspective. What can the character identify with in your setting? What might the character like? dislike? be outraged by? be confused by? What would Chris or Esch notice?
I chose Chris McCandless finding out about the Trans Mountain Pipeline Controversy:
Woke up 26 years in the future, surprised and fascinated but it doesn't change my plans. I still left for Alaska, but instead of April I cross the Canadian border in May. I was making my way to Alaska when I saw a group of protestors. They had signs reading 'Kinder Morgan shall not pass!', 'DEFEND THE SACRED,' and "PEOPLE OVER PIPELINES.' I asked a man what the protest was about, he said some corporation wants to put a pipeline right through Canada and the forests and native reservations. Even in the future the government and humanity only ruin things! Even nature isn't safe now, they're trying to take that away from us too! Screw the government and all the people supporting the pipeline, we were meant to live in the wild free from all this corruption. I'm glad I'm leaving all of it behind, I was right about mankind, even now they're still messing things up, at least some of them have the sense to protest it. If they were really smart they'd do what I'm doing and live like we were meant to live.

*I noticed a lot of people holding up some weird small grey-ish devices? Probably new technology continuing to poison society, have to look into it later.
